“Set User Origin” does not change the WCS, it simply records internally where you’d like the job to start. When you choose “User Origin” as the ‘Start From’ value, it uses the stored user origin as the reference position. LightBurn works in absolute machine coordinate space unless you choose “Current Position” as the ‘Start From’ value, in which case it uses relative moves for everything.

This has the least impact on machine state, and makes it possible to click-to-move regardless of what mode you’re in. If you changed the WCS, click-to-move would need to know a lot more state in order to work properly, and some machines don’t report it (GRBL will report MPos or WPos, but not both, so we require them to be the same).

When you say “Set finish position” doesn’t seem to work correctly, how do you mean? What doesn’t it do that you expect it to?

If you haven’t reviewed this, you should: https://github.com/LightBurnSoftware/Documentation/blob/master/CoordinatesOrigin.md

It explains how the various ‘Start from’ modes work, and generally replaces the need to change WCS.
