Really BIG changes are coming to the forum! Yuusuf and I are going to be adding a bunch of new features that will hopefully add to the quality of the board. As always, your feedback good and bad is always welcome.
I've just had a thought as a feedback. I just saw this post here saying "Forum Updates 10/02/2016" & was wondering why it was showing as newer than other posts.
Then I registered I was reading the "10/02/2016" as 10th February 2016 (as we do over here in AU).
So, I'm thinking for any admin posts or the likes we might want to use a less subjective method of date representation, just to minimise confusion for all users (since I'm assuming they'll be from all over the world).
Something along the lines of 2 October 2016, or October 2, 2016.
Anyway, food for thought.
you make a valid point as usual. I keep forgetting that there are a lot of people from around the globe that use different ways to express the date. (I even incorporated a globe in my logo to show that the interest in lasers is a global!).
So from now on, I will personally use the day, month name and year and try not to confuse too many people.
I imagine others may use different systems, but for us as admin we should try stick to something more standardised to assist with managing confusion levels. On the same note, spelling is different in a few places, but I figure most people are used to reading different versions of spellings online already, so not a big drama there in my opinion.
I think there are a few issues that may surface over time, that we can manage as they come to mind or to the fore. E.g. another I can currently think of is in the Selling forum, prices will vary between region, so I think it would be important for those who are wishing to sell something who utilise the same currency symbol as other countries (e.g. AU$ & US$) to prefix or suffix the symbol with the correct region. Not really an admin thing, but maybe a small note in that forum as a sticky with "Selling Rules" might be helpful (with Guidelines & some indemnity statement like "EverythingLasers.com does not take any liability for any loss due to private purchases arranged through this forum. We suggest you evaluate the risk carefully.").
